What this tool does

It turns a plain list of job titles into three things at once: a clean Boolean search string, a Sales Navigator search URL, and a standard LinkedIn search URL. You paste one of them into LinkedIn and you have your target list. Nothing is uploaded and no account is needed.

The reason it produces two URLs is simple. Most guides assume you pay for Sales Navigator at $119.99 a month. You often do not need to. A well built Boolean string on standard LinkedIn search returns a usable list for most B2B prospecting, and the second URL here is exactly that.

How to build a search that actually returns your buyers

Three rules cover most of it.

Group your titles with OR, not AND. Job titles are inconsistent across companies. A person doing one job might be Head of Sales at one company, Sales Director at the next, VP Sales at a third and Commercial Director at a fourth. If you join those with AND you get almost nothing, because no single person carries all four titles at once. Grouping them with OR inside brackets is what returns the whole set.

Quote anything containing a space. Without quotation marks, LinkedIn reads Head of Sales as three separate words and returns anyone who mentions sales anywhere on their profile. With quotes it matches the phrase. This tool quotes multi-word terms for you automatically.

Exclude aggressively. The single biggest quality gain in most searches comes from NOT, not from better titles. Excluding assistant, intern, recruiter, freelance and looking removes most of the noise from a title search. If you sell into sales teams, excluding recruiter alone can clean up a quarter of the results, because recruiters describe the titles they hire for in their own headlines.

Boolean operators LinkedIn actually supports

LinkedIn supports AND, OR and NOT, quotation marks for exact phrases, and brackets for grouping. It does not support wildcards such as an asterisk, and it does not support proximity operators such as NEAR. Operators have to be typed in capitals, because a lowercase and is treated as an ordinary search word rather than an operator.

Bracketing matters more than people expect. The string sales OR marketing AND director does not mean what most people assume, because AND binds more tightly than OR. Written as (sales OR marketing) AND director it returns what you intended. This tool always brackets your OR group so the precedence is correct.

Sales Navigator versus standard LinkedIn search

Sales Navigator gives you more filters: seniority level, company headcount, years in current role, recent job changes, and saved lead lists. Those are genuinely useful if you prospect full time and you want to slice a large market quickly.

What it does not give you is better people. The underlying member data is the same in both. If your search string is well constructed, standard LinkedIn search reaches the same profiles. The practical difference is filtering speed, not list quality, and that is why we treat Sales Navigator as optional rather than required.

One limit worth knowing if you stay on a free LinkedIn account: LinkedIn applies a commercial use limit to standard search. Run a high volume of searches in a month and search is capped until the first of the following month. Premium or Sales Navigator lifts that cap. It is a limit on how much you can search, not on the list you have already built.

What to do with the list once you have it

A search results page is not a list you own. You cannot sort it, share it with a colleague, or import it into a CRM, and LinkedIn will happily reshuffle the order tomorrow. To do anything useful with it you need the profiles as rows in a file.

That is where the Leadsforlinked Chrome extension comes in. Run the search you just built, click import, and the profiles become an audience you can export to CSV with first name, last name, headline, job title, location and profile URL. The first 100 leads are free with no card, released 20 at a time every hour, and credits never expire.

A worked example

Say you sell an onboarding tool to mid-market SaaS companies and your buyer is the head of customer success. Your titles are Head of Customer Success, Director of Customer Success, VP Customer Success and Customer Success Lead. Your exclusions are intern, assistant, recruiter and freelance. Your location keyword is Berlin and your industry keyword is SaaS.

The tool produces a bracketed OR group for the four titles, ANDs Berlin and SaaS onto it, then appends the NOT group at the end. Paste that into standard LinkedIn search and you have a focused list of the right people without paying for a Sales Navigator seat. Paste it into the Sales Navigator URL instead if you want to layer headcount and seniority filters on top.

Questions

Do I need Sales Navigator to use this?

No. The tool generates both a Sales Navigator URL and a standard LinkedIn search URL from the same Boolean string. The standard LinkedIn URL works on a free LinkedIn account.

Does LinkedIn support wildcards in Boolean search?

No. LinkedIn supports AND, OR, NOT, quotation marks for exact phrases, and brackets for grouping. Wildcards such as an asterisk and proximity operators such as NEAR are not supported. Operators must be typed in capitals.

Why group job titles with OR instead of AND?

Because no single person holds every title at once. Head of Sales AND Sales Director AND VP Sales returns almost nobody. Grouping them with OR inside brackets returns everyone doing that job under any of those titles.

Is anything I type sent to a server?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is stored and no account is required.

How do I turn the search results into a CSV?

Run the search, then use the Leadsforlinked Chrome extension to import the profiles into an audience and export to CSV. You get 100 free leads on signup with no credit card, released 20 at a time every hour, and credits never expire.
